What are Skin Tags?

Skin tags are painless, noncancerous growths on the skin. They’re connected to the skin by a small, thin stalk called a peduncle. Skin tags are common in both men and women, especially after age 50. They can appear anywhere on your body, though they’re commonly found in places where your skin folds such as the:

  • Neck
  • Area under your breasts

How are skin tags removed?

We use a laser pen that uses high frequency electric frequency to remove the skin tag. Having small skin tags removed doesn’t usually require anaesthesia. Your aesthetician may use a localised topical anaesthesia when removing large or multiple skin tags.

What to expect during your treatment?

Larger skin tags require a larger needle for the procedure.

We will clean and disinfect the area before applying a topical anaesthetic,

We will remove the skin tag with a laser pen, this is not a very painful process; however, medium to large skin tags can bleed.

We will apply a topical scar repair serum to sooth and expedite healing.

Aftercare:

We suggest purchasing a scar repair for multiple skin tag removal and twice daily.

Do not rub, scratch or cover the treated area.

Avoid scrubbing the area whilst bathing for the first 48 hours.

Allow the area to heal naturally. You should see a scab form and fall away in 7 to 14 days, depending on how quickly your body naturally heals.

Important information:

It’s not a good idea to try to remove skin tags on your own. Many websites offer DIY instructions for removing skin tags by tying them off with string or applying a chemical peel. Even in a sterile environment, removing skin tags may cause bleeding, burns, and infection. It’s best to let your aesthetician handle the job and to follow care instructions carefully.
